"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
Today, we'd like to ask you to be kind to others. In normal, non-Quarantine times, some people are happy, some are really struggling. But nowadays, everyone is fighting a battle of some sort. As you go about your lives, we'd like to ask you to be kind to others, recognizing that everyone is struggling.
Our friend Shantel had an encounter yesterday that she bravely allowed us to share. It poignantly illustrates this point:
"When I was at the store with [my son] there was a woman blocking the aisle, texting on her phone. I was waiting patiently for about 30 [seconds] but I was starting to get a bit impatient, and I couldn’t pass her because someone was on the other side of the aisle. Landon asked what she was doing and I said, 'She’s texting on her phone.' She looked back at me, apologized and said she just found out her friend had died and she looked devastated. I felt so bad for her and a little annoyed at myself for being slightly impatient. I offered my condolences and asked her if she needed anything. I never wanted to hug a stranger so badly, but in these times I had to walk by and try to hold back the tears in my own eyes. Lesson: Be kind; you never know what people are dealing with."
