Assignment: Harvest Party

REFERRING OFFICER: Tony Rogers (Columbus Division of Police, 7 Pct Community Liaison Officer)

ASSIGNMENT: Volunteer with the Fall Harvest Party at Adams Community Center and/or make a donation towards the purchase of candy for this event. Adams center director Mario Dovell typically spends approximately $250 of his own money on candy to give the kids at his rec center a safe and fun Halloween experience, and we'd like to help alleviate his burden. If you'd like to make a donation, any amount we receive over what he needs will be put towards the Angel Tree event we're going to do with him on December 19 (details to come at a later date).

Those of you who volunteered at Adams Community Center for Cops and Barbers know Mario Dovell, who worked so hard to make the experience at Adams special for the kids, their parents, the barbers, the cops, and the volunteers. Mario and his Community Liaison Officer, Tony Rogers, form a dynamic duo, constantly going out of their way to care for others and serve their community, their love and enthusiasm for their jobs always on display.

This Halloween party is another extraordinary event for the kids of this East Side neighborhood, and one of the many events that Mario and Ofc Rogers work on together throughout the year. If you'd like be part of it, Mario needs five more volunteers from 5:30-8:30 on Thursday, October 24 at Adams Community Center, 854 Alton Ave., Columbus. The positions will either be at the front counter or general running around (mostly filling candy bowls). Please email us at starfish@sent.com if you're interested.
