Assignment: Help a Family Celebrate Their First Christmas In Three Years

ASSIGNMENT: Help a family going through tough times celebrate their first Christmas in three years.

REFERRING OFFICER: Gahanna Division of Police School Resource Officer Adam.

You all know that we've been very busy with Macro Assignments this month, but we've been keeping up with Micro Assignments as well. Over the next few days, we'll update you on them, and today we'll begin with our first-ever Assignment with Gahanna Police (we were very excited).

Officer Adam learned that, because of medical issues their father is having, three of the children he works with would not be having a Christmas for the third year in a row. Their mother is the sole financial support for the family, and money for extras like Christmas presents is out of their budget.

Officer Adam contacted us, and our Board Member and Linden Community Center Manager, Mario Dovell, personally took on the task of shopping for this sweet family. The presents were then delivered by Officer Adam, Gahanna Middle School South Assistant Principal Andy Bonath, and Gahanna PD Liaison Peyton O'Dell. Peyton said the children were so excited that they ran outside to greet them even before putting shoes on!

We'd like to thank Officer Andy and Peyton for reaching out to us for help, Gahanna-Jefferson Schools for being such great partners, and our wonderful Starfish donors who make these moments possible.
