Block Party

A little over a year ago, Biancamya Griffin's son Kenken was held down in a bathtub of hot water by her then-boyfriend. He suffered third-degree burns on his tiny body. Her ex is now awaiting trial, Kenken is recovering nicely, and as we've written before, Bianca and her family became fast friends with Columbus Division of Police Ofc AJ Johnson, his partner Ofc Curtis Hale, and through them most of the officers of 11 and 12 Precincts, including our dear friends Ofcs Dan Snyder and Alex Mottinger.

Today was Bianca's second annual party to celebrate Kenken's life, through which she raises awareness about child abuse and says thank you to everyone who supports them.

Bianca invited many CPD officers and this is how she feels about them: "I just wanna say Columbus Police definitely has my back and support... we gain so much support and love from not just the city of Columbus.... but nationwide I like to specially thank Officer AJ Johnson and his partner Curtis hale..... for the continuous love and support...that they give becuz of those amazing officers I've meet 2 more amazing officers Snyder and mott heaven sent if you ask me.... we talk on a daily bases like we family or something...also have grown to meet many other officers from different substations across Columbus. So yes Columbus Police I love you"

We love them, too. As you can see, not only did those officers come to the block party, but Chief Quinlan himself was there (in the yellow shirt), as was Ofc Amanda Hoover from the South Side. We made new friends, laughed, and literally danced in the street.

Bianca, thanks for your joyful, beautiful, optimistic heart, which has turned that dark time in your family's history into something beautiful for so many of us. We really appreciate you.
