Today we got to celebrate one of our close friends, Tim Myers, as he was promoted from lieutenant to commander. It was a wonderful day that we were thrilled to be part of. As many of you know, Commander Myers is very involved in Starfish, starting with running our Bikes Assignment in April this year and finishing with leading the tour of the academy for the Sahara Columbus volunteers on Monday.
We say "finishing," because Commander Myers is also an attorney in the Army, and he's getting ready to deploy for nearly a year. We are really going to miss him. His sense of humor, his candor, his ability to quickly cut to the heart of a problem and then solve it, his spreadsheets that are so well organized and beautiful we seriously considered making one of them the wallpaper on our computer. But, he will be back, and he leaves us a better organization than he found us. Plus, we will stay in touch while he's gone.
Since we're Starfish, we had to send him off in style. In this case, it meant having a donut party for him. That's right. A donut party. Our board members bought donut trinkets and our Morale and Wellness fund bought donuts for him and his officers. We were honored to be with him as he delivered them to all four of the West Side substations under his command.
Congratulations on your well-deserved promotion, Commander Myers. Thank you for choosing to work with us. We love you, and we'll see you soon.
