Congratulations, Officer Dorsey!

We are excited to share that this quarter’s Starfish Make a Difference Award goes to Officer Monica Dorsey of the Springfield (Illinois) Police Department.

We were delighted to partner with Springfield Police to surprise her, and thrilled that Springfield's Mayor and the Chief of Police joined in the presentation, emphasizing just how valued she is in her community.

Officer Dorsey has spent eight years with the department, and her heart for people shines through in everything she does. She’s the Neighborhood Police Officer for Beat 100, where she knows her residents and looks out for them every day. She helped launch Books & Badges in Springfield, bringing officers into classrooms to read with kindergartners, and she’ll lead the program into its third year this fall.

Her care extends to every age group. She works with seniors through the Senior Services Center and Sangamon County Triad, partners with Compass for Kids and the YMCA, and helps run Cops & Bobbers, giving dozens of kids an unforgettable day of fishing with officers each year.

Officer Dorsey is dedicated, compassionate, and deeply connected to her community. It’s an honor to celebrate her and all she does to make a difference.

Congratulations, Officer Dorsey! 🌟
