We discovered Cookies for Caregivers-Columbus Ohio when they were featured in The Columbus Dispatch last week. They are a nationwide group that gives sweet gifts to people who take care of others.
In the article, reporter Dean Narciso wrote that the Columbus chapter founder Emily Troiano has had many successes but at least one challenge: "'Trying to get through to the police stations has been impossible,' Troiano said. Most police substations are often unmanned except during shift changes. And they have locked doors and tight security."
This is absolutely true, and we thought we could help. We reached out to Mr. Narciso, who immediately connected us to Mrs. Troiano. We gave her information on how to work with various police departments--who often cannot accept home-baked goods for safety and security reasons, and today she made her first delivery to our friends at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport.
If you would like to contribute towards the purchase of cookies or other items for Cookies for Caregivers, please send donations to Mrs. Troiano's PayPal, emilytroiano@yahoo.com. (Unfortunately, Starfish cannot accept funds on their behalf.)
