Thanks to Starfish donors, some of our local agencies were able to have holiday events in conjunction with their Books & Badges readings. We gave them a budget they could spend in any way they wished, and it was really fun seeing how they celebrated with the kids in their communities. Our friends at the Delaware County, OHIO, Sheriff's Office had several events that included items they'll be able to use again in the future. (We love how you think!)
One of their events was at the Worthington Arms community building, and after the book reading, children were treated to cookies and other snacks. They also received sheriff stars, making them honorary deputies!
Maybe best of all, the DCSO set up a photo booth where the kids could pose with therapy dog Otto. Their pictures printed out right there, and they turned them into a magnet the kids could take home as a keepsake. Don't you love it?
