Getting a Boy Safely to School

Recently, we had the pleasure of working with an old friend of ours, Columbus Division of Police Officer Trevor Wolfe, who patrols North Linden. He reached out to us, concerned about a young boy, Messiah, who was biking to school in the dark without a helmet, lights, or reflectors. It was difficult for drivers to see him, and Officer Wolfe was worried for his safety.
We went to Bicycle One in Gahanna to get what Messiah needed. The staff there could not have been kinder or more enthusiastic about this Assignment. They offered to donate the reflectors and a fantastic rechargeable Cannondale helmet with a built-in blinking light. Thanks to our donors, we were also able to provide a headlamp for the helmet and lights for the front and back of the bike.
Officer Wolfe delivered everything to Messiah at school the next day, and Messiah was thrilled, especially since he told Officer Wolfe he’d almost been hit by a car that very morning. Later that day, as Officer Wolfe was driving home, he passed Messiah riding safely home from school, wearing his new helmet.
We’re grateful to Officer Wolfe for looking out for Messiah, to Bicycle One for their generosity, and to our supporters who make moments like this possible.
