Helping a Young Family

Columbus Division of Police Officer Nick Sands met Monet and her two children while on patrol on the West Side. He enjoyed speaking with the family and was impressed by the care Monet shows her kids. During their conversation, he recognized they could use some support. With food banks running low and household budgets stretched, he reached out to us to see how we could assist.

Because of our generous Starfish donors, we were able to immediately release emergency funds. Officer Sands delivered groceries to Monet and her children that evening and provided grocery gift cards to help them through the month.

This is exactly why our partnerships with officers matter. Together, we can respond quickly when families are facing difficult circumstances and ensure they have the essentials they need.
