Our annual block parties at Linden Community Center with Columbus Police are always a blast, and yesterday's event was no exception. There was so much to do and see that we didn't even capture it all in photos. New this year, we had amazing fashion and talent from We Are Linden and a lively marching band!
The dunk tank was a huge hit, with kids excited for the chance to dunk officers, and for the first time ever, a Columbus firefighter! There were plenty of giggles and squeals, especially when the kids themselves got splashed with a blast of water.
We also had a wealth of community resources, free food thanks to our generous Starfish donors, and a variety of games. Attendees got to try on FBI vests, explore CPD resources like the helicopter and SWAT Bearcat, and even take a ride in the AEP Ohio bucket truck! Malissa Thomas St Clair, Founder of Mothers of Murdered Columbus Children, shared that she's attended many events but finally worked up the courage to ride with a lineman yesterday—and she loved it!
It was an evening of fun and friendship, and we're still smiling from it. We're incredibly grateful to Columbus Recs & Parks, CPD, We Are Linden, the 614 Cadets, and all the community organizations and volunteers who came together to make this event so special. Thank you all so much, and we hope to see you again soon!
