Police Week 2020

Tomorrow marks the end of Light Ohio Blue. Police Week 2020 is also coming to a close, and May 15 is designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day 2020, an event that dates to 1962, when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation establishing it as a day when the nation would pay tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.

Obviously, this year's events have been much altered by Covid-19, and instead of gathering in Washington, DC, officers and families will be mostly marking the occasion online. You can participate by posting photos of yourself wearing blue with the hashtag #PoliceWeek2020. We'd love to include those photos in a post that we'll make late tomorrow morning. Please email them to us at starfish@sent.com.

Thank you to Columbus Division of Police Commander Robert Meader for allowing us to include this photo of him at Police Week 2018 and to Officer David Jones for the photo of K-9 Ayko at the Columbus Police Memorial.
