Ribbons for Light Ohio Blue Week

Light Ohio Blue 2020 starts this Friday and runs through May 15. We hope you're getting your blue porch lights ready, which is to designed to honor law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, as well as those currently serving sworn and civilian staff. There are many ways you can get involved, including wearing blue on May 15 and tying blue ribbons on your mailbox, porches, or posts. Light Ohio Blue volunteer Nicole Mavromatis usually ties blue ribbons all around the city (check out her pictures), but has been asked not to do that this year because of the stay at home order. However, she has been prepping for months and has a lot of ribbons ready to go. She wants to send these to people who will display them at their houses or their places of work. This way, Light Ohio Blue 2020 will still be special, and maybe now it will be even more widespread. We offered to personally give her money for postage (not from Starfish funds), but she declined, saying it's her honor and privilege to give back. If you will hang ribbon at your house in honor of our law enforcement officers, please message us your address and we'll forward it to Nicole. (We know her, and your information is safe with her--we promise!) Feel free to share this post so your friends can learn about this opportunity. Nicole will happily mail out the ribbon until it's gone! 💙
