We've gotten another chance to help families in central Ohio this Thanksgiving, thanks to our law enforcement partners, sister charity Sahara Columbus, and Starfish donors. Sahara-Columbus donated 100 blessing bags of food, and we contributed 100 $50 Kroger gift cards thanks to Byers Auto Group, CME Federal Credit Union, and the Cooper Family Foundation.
The gift cards and bags went to seven of our agency partners for them to give to families of their choosing: Columbus Division of Police, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Franklin Township Police Department, Marion Police Department, Marysville Police Division, Gahanna Division of Police, and Delaware County Sheriff's Office. The items given to CPD will be distributed across the city, including to Homicide and Assault detectives.
The children of Sahara-Columbus, who lovingly assembled and decorated the blessing bags, were treated to a tour of CPD's Aviation Unit, including watching a helicopter land. They also had visits from the Motorcycle Unit and the CPD Therapy Dog Unit's newest addition, Maverick.
This event was exciting for us because it was the first time so many of our partner agencies had come together for one of our events. It was great to see everyone and have them get a chance to talk to each other. We appreciate the Aviation Unit allowing us to have this opportunity; it was such a treat!
Thanks to Sahara-Columbus, Byers, CME, the Cooper Family Foundation, and our agencies for making this fantastic event possible.
