Third Annual Cops & Gobblers

It was cold outside, but none of us felt it as we delivered turkeys and sides to Rosewind Apartments today in South Linden at our Third Annual Cops & Gobblers. Columbus Division of Police officers, KEMBA Financial Credit Union employees, the 614cadets, and Starfish volunteers knocked on every door in Rosewind to help the residents have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We had a great time and were greeted with enthusiasm. People took videos and pictures and chased after us with smiles on their faces if they didn't quite make it to the door on time. Our fantastic partners at Columbus Recreation and Parks Department held the extras for people who weren't home, and we got to see a few people come by and pick them up at Douglas Community Center before we finally left for the day.

Cops & Gobblers was started at the request of South Linden officers Mike Daymut and Joshua Bell three years ago. We love being able to support officers as they give back to the communities that they serve. If you are in need of a turkey, CPD is giving more away this Monday. Please check their social media for details.

Thank you to Kemba Financial for being our premier sponsor on Cops & Gobblers for a third year and for being so much fun to work with. Thank you also to Walmart, Columbus Recreation and Parks, and our Starfish donors. We could not do this without you.

We were thrilled that former CPD Commander and now The Ohio State University Police Deputy Chief Dennis Jeffrey joined us. Cops & Gobblers is a favorite event of his, and it was lovely to see him in his new uniform.

A special thanks to the always-amazing 614 Cadets. Those turkeys are heavy, but darned if you didn't see them running around with a turkey in each hand. That's how excited they were to be part of this project. (We all felt like that inside, we're just older and can't run with heavy turkeys, that's all.)
