Join us on the Columbus Division of Police Facebook page for a special, three-day event of Books & Badges readings: K-9 WEEK! Officer David Jones and K-9 Ayko will kick us off on Monday, May 4 at noon. Officer Brian Carter and K-9 Odja will read on Wednesday, May 6 at noon, and Officer John Kifer and K-9 Carr will close out the week on Friday, May 8 at noon.
Ofc Jones has been a supporter of Starfish since he learned of our group and allowed our president to do a ride-along with him. He was part of the first Books & Badges event we ever held, on December 19, 2019, at East Columbus Elementary School, and he also spoke at our January 2020 meeting. (Lots of great pictures of Ayko there!) Ofc Jones has been with CPD for 27 years and a K-9 officer for five. He is a very well respected member of the Division, and he is also incredibly kind. He is also incredibly kind. He is the officer who, when he heard about our Christmas Day project, asked if all of his bags could be for the homeless. This prompted us to make him 20 homeless-specific bags and 80 for other CPD officers. We're excited to have him and Ayko join the long list of phenomenal officers who have read for the Virtual Books & Badges program. We hope you can join us!
